It's funny how blogging influences what your kids pay attention to. Like when Greta said to me the other morning, "Mom....I can't wait to see what new decorations you put up while we were sleeping...!" I have to say - since starting my blog, my kids have become much more attuned to the changing of seasons.
Because I am always working on some type of holiday project, they have become much more aware of holidays, in general - how we prepare for them, how we celebrate them, how we decorate for them, how we stress over them.... (errrr scratch that last one...I am working on not letting holidays = stress :)
It is always fun for me when I can include them in the process, so when Greta asked me to get out the paints the other day, I thought I'd get out the paper hearts too. Sometimes they need a little nudge!
Okay, so she doesn't look too happy about the idea. But before long she was singing a different tune:
She made quick work of the hearts (she refers to herself as a "little artist" and says she needs a beret...) and they turned out beautifully. She even convinced Ellia to help her paint some when she got home from school! I wasn't sure what to do with so many hearts, but then I spotted the now literally bare branches from my Bare Branch Christmas Tree. Aha!!
I punched a little hole in each of the hearts, and used twine for the hanger. I tried to hang them in different directions to balance out the branches.
What she didn't approve of were all the pictures I took of it......
...Good thing it's not up to her :)
Thanks for taking a peek inside my Lemon Tree Dwelling!
I hope you feel right at home :)

I would guess that the girls enjoy having their "heartwork" on display for all to see. It is also fun to see the pictures of the project in progress. Beautiful!
ReplyDeleteThanks! I want them to be proud of their artwork and "heartwork" :)
DeleteOkay I am officially hooked to your blog! I love this and think it is so great that you proudly display your children's masterpieces. I have been doing more and more projects with my little one and I'm not lying when I say that lately I've been learning more than teaching. Children's creativity is uncapped and it is something that should really be appreciated. That tree is too cute, too!
ReplyDeleteAwwww...thanks Jacqueline! I completely agree with you - I love to let my kids' creativity shine and I am always amazed by their "raw" ideas. Very inspiring. Thanks for your kind words :)
DeleteHi! Visiting from Life on Lakeshore and want to say that this craft is so sweet and your daughter is beautiful!
ReplyDeleteBare branches are so easy to find this time of year. Good reason to get the boys outside. I am a new follower! I found your link on Flamingo Toes. I would love for you to link up to my weekly linky party Fluster Muster on Wednesday’s @ http://www.FlusterBuster.com.
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun tree! Your little one looks pretty proud of her artwork, too bad she doesn't approve of your pics! Lol! Thanks for sharing!
ReplyDeleteVery cute, I love how you've presented the hearts and will be pinning it in a minute. I do something quite similar with my boys every Valentine's, but with a mix of drawing, paintings and messages they've written about why their family are special to them.
ReplyDeleteFrom you newest GFC follower :)
