I had a little bit of a hellish week. Between a sick Nora and a huge argument with Jorden and some hard news from a friend and a bunch of little things that built up into something that felt much bigger, I kind of had a meltdown yesterday. On the phone. With Jorden. While he was driving home from work. I accused him of not being supportive of my blog...and broke down crying....and hung up before things could get worse. And then he came home with this:
My Valentine's Day gift. To be fair, my second Valentine's Day gift. My first is a sewing machine that he wants me to pick out (yay!!) and the date night we had Tuesday. So this - this was unexpected. And so perfect. Let me give you a run-down of what was in this cute little basket.
First and foremost, a card. A sweet card that had sweet things written inside (Jorden has always been good with cards...) A snippet: "I love you, our life together, and am always grateful to take a deep breath in realizing that we will weave our own path together." xoxo
Second, a gray rooster pitcher....which I love! And would never have bought for myself, which makes it even better. It fits in perfectly on my kitchen shelf and is the perfect accent to all the red I have going on.
Third, individual little bottles of wine. So cute! I've actually never bought these before...but they're such a good idea! Moscato - mmmmm - perfect for dessert :)
And then there's this red cake stand (which Jorden apparently thought was a giant margarita glass.....!) The best thing about this is he bought it because he thought it would be helpful for blog pictures. First of all, he was right.... and second of all, it's so sweet that he wanted to get me something to show his support.
Fifth, this great blanket - complete with the clearance sticker you saw in the original picture. Yep, that's right. Jorden knows I am a diehard clearance shopper...so he bought everything from the clearance racks! I love it! (I love the blanket, too!)
And the basket will be perfect for storing craft supplies in my new (in the works) work space!
Last but not least, check out this giant bag of Twizzlers Bites. Is there anything better? I think not.
All together, it makes pretty much the perfect gift for this gal. But you want to know what's even better than the gift, itself? Having a husband who is not only knows when support is needed, but knows how to show it in just the right way. That, by far, is the best gift of all.
Thanks for taking a peek inside my Lemon Tree Dwelling!
I hope you feel right at home:)

This is better than a box of chocolates. Seems like he knows you pretty well! I love the chicken pitcher.

Thanks, Angie! SO much better than a box of chocolates :)
DeleteLove it!
ReplyDeleteMe too!!! :)
DeleteI love that he thought the cake stand was a margarita glass. It definitely sort of looks like one haha. That was so sweet of him, what a great guy!!
ReplyDeleteThanks, Andrea. I know....totally makes me laugh every time I think about it :)
DeleteWhat a great way to be supportive. That's one of the reasons we love you, Jorden.
ReplyDeleteHe likes this one :)
DeleteI call I get to use the cake stand for a glass next time I come over for wine!

Haha love it!!! It's all yours :)
DeleteMaybe it was time to have a melt down, no matter if deserved. Sounds like your hubs is darned good keeper. They do surprise us don't they, bless their hearts.
ReplyDeleteMy hubs isn't one for the gifts or gestures but he tells me in other ways, too numerous to describe here, that he loves me despite my depression problem sometimes and being too impatient too often. We've been thru alot in our 44+ years but I'm gonna keep him. Remind me of this when I get mad at him next time ok? lol
So happy for you to have a great hubs. It sure makes life alot nicer doesn't it? If you get tired of that adorable grey chicken pitcher, I'd love it.
Awwww thanks...yes, a great husband makes life a whole lot nicer!! I'm with you, though...we all need reminders sometimes :)
DeleteSo cute! Sorry you had a rough week, but I'm so glad you made it through...and sometimes we just have to go "blaaaaaaaaahhhhhhh!!!!" I think it's healthy for us and for our significant other. Sometimes we each need a moment like that to realize we aren't offering each other what we need. A wake up call is good. Take care, and have a better week!
ReplyDeleteThanks so much, you're absolutely right! It has been good for us, for sure. Hope you have a good week, too!
DeleteWhat a sweet guy! So sorry you had a bad week! If it makes you feel any better, I did, too! LOL I love teaching, but there are weeks like last week I wonder how much longer I can do it. Then comes Winter Break and a week off! YAY I needed it. Hope this week is going much better for you!!!
ReplyDeleteXOXOXO
